What is a third party casualty claim? A
third party casualty claim is when other people submit a claim or file a
lawsuit against an insured policyholder for alleged injuries or damages.
The most familiar type is probably the automobile accident. It is
the Norfield adjuster’s task to determine the amount of our client’s
policyholder’s responsibility for the resultant damages, and the extent
of those damages including property damage and bodily injury. An
adjuster will visit the scene of the accident to see what physical
evidence is available as well as thoroughly interview and possibly take
written or recorded statements from the involved parties and witnesses,
in order to render an opinion as to where the fault lies. Norfield
also handles homeowner’s liability claims (the dog bites the mailman,
someone falls down a flight of stairs), public liability claims (someone
slips on a grape in a grocery store), and an array of liability claims
including: product liability, construction liability, liquor
liability as well as state & federal workers compensation claims.
As we cover all of Massachusetts, Rhode
Island, Connecticut, Vermont, and New Hampshire, this position requires
travel on a day trip basis. Responsibilities include fact
gathering, obtaining pertinent documentation, witness assessment,
analysis and report generation in the challenging field of third party
casualty claims investigation.
Norfield offers a competitive salary and
extensive benefits to include medical, short and long-term disability
insurance, dental, a 401k pension plan with matching company
contributions, group life, vacation, sick time, personal time and
holidays.
